Family Start focuses on improving children's growth and health, learning and relationships, family circumstances, environment and safety
It helps families/whānau who are struggling with challenges or problems that make it harder for them to care for their baby or young child. A qualified Family Start worker visits you in your home, working collaboratively with you and your family to agree and achieve goals to enhance your family's wellbeing.
The Family Start programme is available from as early as three months into a pregnancy and (if required) up until a child is 5 years old. Your family can generally enter the programme up until a child is one year old and in some circumstances up until two years. You can refer yourself to this programme, or with your consent, a support worker/professional working with your family may refer you.
