Are you the kind of person who learns best through doing? At Otago Polytechnic we provide practical, hands-on education and training that will help you move into an apprenticeship, employment or further study.
Our foundation learning programmes will give you a taste of what Polytechnic study is all about and will help you to improve your writing, numeracy and computing skills. Our Trades Taster option will allow you to try out several of our trades areas – carpentry, engineering, cookery and horticulture - so you can see what suits you best!
We also offer a range of pathway programmes which will let you build the specific skills you need for further study in areas such as health and wellness, beauty therapy, massage, hairdressing, sport, art & design, construction and engineering, veterinary nursing, hospitality and business.
In addition, several of our certificate programmes are available to 16-19 year olds through the Youth Guarantee Scheme (conditions apply) which means that you will pay no fees. And we also work in partnership with the Malcam Charitable Trust to deliver Farmhand, a Dunedin-based training programme which connects young, urban people with rural communities and permanent work or further education.
